<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which improves heat exchange efficiency of a shell-and-tube evaporator. <P>SOLUTION: A refrigerator includes a turbo compressor 3 which compresses a refrigerant, a concentrator 8 which condenses the refrigerant compressed by the turbo compressor 3, an economizer 9 which cools a liquid refrigerant from the concentrator 8, a precooler 11 which cools the liquid refrigerant from the economizer 9, a main expansion valve 13 which expands the liquid refrigerant from the precooler 11, and a shell-and-tube evaporator 15 which evaporates the refrigerant expanded by the main expansion valve 13.
