The metering device has a heat exchanger for heating a supplied fluid flow, where the heat exchanger is connected at the downstream of a compressor (2). A heated fluid stream of gas is supplied from the compressor, where the supplied fluid flow is also heated by the waste heat of the compressor. The compressor reacts on an increase of the pressure in a line (5), where the compressor is equipped with increased heat generation in comparison with the thermodynamically predetermined increase of the heat generation. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating metering device.
