A fast airing rubber stock which will vulcanize at room, or slightly elevated, temperature, for use in a tyre-bead shaper strip (see Group XXXIV), may employ as accelerators 4 parts each of dibenzylamine, and dibutyl xanthogen disulphide, per 100 parts of rubber, together with 4 parts of sulphur as a vulcanizing agent and the usual fillers, softening agents and antioxidant. The stock may be formed by laminating together two pre-formed stocks which contain respectively a different one of the two accelerators, so that vulcanization of the stock occurs soon after lamination by mutual migration of the accelerators. The stock may be based on natural rubber, or on synthetic rubbers such as chlorobutadiene or acrylonitrile-butadiene polymers, or co-polymers of butadiene-styrene or polyisobutylene and isoprene. |
