PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for providing a packet data service in a communication system are provided to provide a packet data service by minimizing the IP(Internet Protocol) address processing load of an HNB(Home Node B). CONSTITUTION: A WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) communication system comprises an UE(User Equipment), home/enterprise networks(310), the internet(320), an IP network(330), a core network(340), and an HMS(HNB Management System)(350). The home/enterprise networks include an HNB(311). The IP network includes a router(331). The core network comprises an HNB gateway(341), a mobile switching center(343), a home location register(345), a serving GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) support node(347), and a gateway GPRS support node(349). The UE is connected to the HNB through a Uu interface. The router is connected to a HNBGW(HNB GateWay) through a luh interface.
