This optical transmission device is provided with: a Raman amplification means; a main signal light sending means for sending first main signal light; a communication disconnection detection light monitoring means for sending a first signal in the case that communication disconnection detection light cannot be detected; a main signal light monitoring means for sending a second signal in the case that second main signal light cannot be detected; a light-monitoring signal analysis means for sending the analysis result of a light-monitoring signal as a third signal in a predetermined time; and a control means for stopping the generation of excitation light in the case that the third signal cannot be received after the predetermined time has elapsed in a state in which the first signal is received and the second signal is not received, and stopping the sending of the first main signal light in the case that the second signal is subsequently received.
