<p>In order to reduce power consumption by reducing the amplitude of the video signal in a liquid crystal display device in which each pixel is divided into a plurality of sub-pixels, each pixel-forming section is provided with an amplifier circuit section (13) including a second capacitor (Ctr) and located between a pixel electrode for dark display (1011) and a pixel electrode for bright display (1012). A selection period is made up of a pre-charge period and an amplification period. During the pre-charge period, the dark-display pixel electrode (1011) is supplied with the electric potential of a control line (CTL), and the bright-display pixel electrode (1012) is supplied with the electric potential of a video signal line (SL). During the amplification period, the bright-display pixel electrode (1012) is kept in a floating state, and the dark-display pixel electrode (1011) is supplied with the electric potential of the video signal line (SL).</p> |
