PURPOSE: A fire extinguishing mixture and a using method thereof are provided to improve an fire extinguishing effect of water or fire extinguishing liquid by adding the mixture. CONSTITUTION: A fire extinguishing mixture contains 80-95wt% of yellow soil, 1-3wt% of limestone, 1-3wt% of sodium bicarbonate, 1-3wt% of enterolith, 1-3wt% of tin, 0.5-3wt% of charcoal, and 0.5-3wt% of flour. The particle size of the yellow soil and the limestone is 0.5-50 micrometers. The sodium bicarbonate is obtained by extracting sodium alginate from sea tangle powder in the particle size of 60 meshes using 0.5% NaOH solution in a 60 deg C shaking water bath, precipitating the sodium alginate using 1M CaCl2 solution, converting the sodium alginate into alginic acid, and mixing the alginic acid with 0.5% Na2CO3 solution before precipitating the sodium alginate with methanol.
