Class 75(1) A submersible flame burner as used e.g. for evaporating or concentrating, spent acid pickling bath liquors comprises a burner head opening downwardly into a combustion chamber 4 and including two concentric conduits 2, 3 through which the combustion gases such as air or oxygen and fuel gas or chlorine and hydrogen are respectively delivered under pressure; and means such as a swirl chamber 12 at the head of the inner conduit 2 and fed tangentially from the air or gas supply through a conduit 11. or one or more helically extending vanes within the conduit 2 for imparting to the air or gas a rotary motion so as to create intimate mixing between the gases within the combustion chamber. The gas in the outer conduit 3 fed by the conduit 13 may also be given a rotary motion but in the opposite direction to that of the gas in the conduit 2. A central tube 6 serves for the insertion of a withdrawable igniter 7, e.g. an electrical heating resistance or spark gap device, and for a pilot supply of gas from conduit 14 used for starting the burner.</p> |
