The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for inhibiting pitch, which is capable of further inhibiting adhesion of pitch and enables the production of high-quality paper. The method for inhibiting pitch in a facility that comprises pulp production equipment for producing pulp from a pulp starting material with use of water comprises a step in which a chelating agent for calcium ions is added to a place in the equipment where pulp or an intermediate thereof and water come into contact with each other.
