<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device for easily remodeling an elevator device using a round-shaped main rope into an elevator device using a flat-shaped main rope. <P>SOLUTION: A hoisting machine 5 is arranged on a machine base 4 having a pair of machine beams 10 arranged in parallel, and while winding the flat-shaped main rope 8 on a driving sheave 12 of the winding machine 5, a sub-rope 9 is wound on a pair of return wheels 16 and 16 supported by the machine base 4, and a car 6 and a counterweight 7 are suspended and supported by the main rope 8 and the sub-rope 9.
