摘要 Butyl rubber is bonded to a fibrous reinforcing structure, e.g of regenerated cellulose, nylon or cotton by applying to the latter a mixture of Butyl rubber, an organic isocyanate and an aryl dinitroso compound and/or an aryl dioxime, placing the treated structure in contact with a vulcanizable composition of the Butyl rubber, and vulcanizing. Alternatively the fibrous structure may be treated with Butyl rubber and an organic isocyanate only, in which case the vulcanizable Butyl rubber composition contains a dinitroso compound or an aryl dioxime. The organic isocyanate may comprise ethyl, isobutyl, octadecyl, phenyl, naphthyl, or tolyl isocyanate, ethylene, hexa-methylene, propylene 1, 2, butylene 1, 2, ethylidene, cyclopentylene 1, 3, cyclohexylene 1, 2, paraphenylene, 4, 41-diphenylene, 1, 5 naphthalene, 4, 41 diphenylene methane, toluene 2, 4, diphenyl 3, 31 dimethoxy 4, 41, or 4, 41 diphenyl ether diisocyanate, 4, 41, 411-triphenyl methane or toluene 2, 4, 6-triisocyanate, 4, 41-dimethyl diphenyl methane, 2, 21, 5, 51 tetraisocyanate, or a higher polyisocyanate. Mixed monoisocyanates, and/or polyisocyanates may be employed. The aryl dinitroso compound may be a derivative of benzene, e.g. paradinitrosobenzene or polyparanitrosobenzene, or of cymene, toluene, or naphthalene. The aryl dioxime may comprise paraquinone, naphthoquinone, toluquinone, diphenoquinone, or diquinoyl dioxime. In examples a rayon cord is dipped into a solution of Butyl rubber in a petroleum ether diluted with toluene and various amounts of a polyisocyanate mixture and a composition comprising 25 per cent polyparadinitrosobenzene and 75 per cent petroleum wax. The polyisocyanate mixture is prepared by the phosgenation of an aniline-formaldehyde condensation product. The dipped cord is dried and embedded in Butyl rubber composition and the assembly vulcanized.
