PURPOSE: A wireless communication apparatus for an automatic fare collection system and wireless communication method are provided to offer a communication service between an automatic fare collection system and the portable terminal of a station employee using a wireless communication apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A transmission module(13) of an automatic fare collection system transmits a call signal to a repeater according to the control of a call button(11). A first microcomputer of the automatic fare collection system controls the transmission module. A signal reception unit of a portable terminal(20) receives the transmitted call signal. A second microcomputer of the portable terminal controls the wireless connection between the portable terminal and the automatic fare collection system which transmits the call signal.
