PURPOSE: A channel state information transmission and reception method in a wireless communication system and apparatus thereof are provided to prevent the waste of uplink resource by effectively monitoring downlink states. CONSTITUTION: A base station sets the first field of payload as report request indication information(S920). The base station sets the second filed of the payload as mode indication information(S952,S954). The base station transmits a payload encoding signal to a user terminal(S960). The base station receives a signal including channel state information from the user terminal(S970). The base station extracts the channel state information by decoding the signal according to a report method indicated by the mode indication information(S980).
