<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manganese oxide which is excellent in a charge and discharge cycle for a long term, where high capacity can be expected and which is important as an inexpensive electrode material for a battery, an electrode active material for a secondary battery, those producing methods and a lithium secondary battery using the electrode active material for the secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The manganese oxide has a chemical composition represented by general formula Li<SB>x</SB>Ca<SB>y</SB>Mn<SB>9-z</SB>Ti<SB>z</SB>O<SB>18</SB>(wherein, composition range is 0<x<9; 0<y<1.8; and 0≤z≤5) and contains lithium, calcium, manganese, titanium, and oxygen as main ingredients.
