PURPOSE: An oxygen generating apparatus for vehicles and a method for controlling the same are provided to secure conditions under which an oxygen enrichment unit constantly operates regardless of the operating mode of the indoor spaces of vehicles. CONSTITUTION: An oxygen generating apparatus for vehicles includes an oxygen enrichment unit(100), a discharging path(200), an oxygen storing part(300), a first switching valve(410), a second switching valve(510), and a third switching valve(210). The oxygen enrichment unit enriches the concentration of oxygen in air. The discharging path supplies the air with enriched oxygen into the indoor spaces of the vehicles. The oxygen storing part is in connection with the oxygen enrichment unit and the discharging path. The switching valves switch connecting paths.
