The method involves providing two image detectors. Each detector have an inner edge to provide an inner edge contact between the two detectors to form a detector array (12), and an outer edge to form an outside perimeter of the detector array. An area proximate the outside perimeter of the detector array is coupled to an image receptor with a flex circuit to corresponding connections on the receptor. An Independent claim is also included for an X-ray image detector assembly.
