PURPOSE: A plug-in based exchangeable conditional access apparatus and method thereof are provided to easily manage security protocols by improving the XCAS(eXchangeable Conditional Access System) adjustment performance of a browser based middle ware. CONSTITUTION: One or more security module plugins(320) are mounted in order to respectively correspond to one or more security protocols. A security module uses one or more security protocols. The security module plugin is selectively loaded according to the request of a browser(310). A conditional access application(340) selects one of the security module plugin at the initiatory stage. A conditional access application management unit confirms the information of the conditional access application using a wire broadcast service provider. The conditional access application management unit updates the conditional access application.
