Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for enhancing mobility signaling for a user equipment (UE) operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. More specifically, by intelligently transitioning from a DRX connected state to an idle state before the expiration of an inactivity timer, signaling overhead may be reduced, and battery power may be conserved.
