FLAME RETARDANT FOR MIXING WITH THERMOPLASTIC RESIN, FLAME-RETARDED RESIN COMPOSITION, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE FLAME-RETARDED RESIN COMPOSITION

Provided is a flame retardant for mixing with a thermoplastic resin, the flame retardant generating neither toxic gases nor dioxins, enabling the resin to retain the melt viscosity and be easily formed into fibers or films, and being capable of producing a flame-retardant effect. Also provided are a flame-retarded resin composition and a process for producing the flame-retarded resin composition. The flame retardant for mixing with a thermoplastic resin comprises potassium dihydrogen phosphate, lithium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, and aluminum dihydrogen phosphate and/or urea and is used for a polyester resin selected from polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and polyethylene naphthalate or for a polyamide resin. The flame-retarded resin composition comprises a thermoplastic resin and the flame retardant for mixing with a thermoplastic resin, the flame retardant having been added to the thermoplastic resin in an amount of 1-25 wt.% relative to the whole amount.
