<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition including antisecretory factors for treating and/or preventing intraocular hypertension, and the use of the pharmaceutical composition for treating and/or preventing the intraocular hypertension. <P>SOLUTION: The antisecretory factors includes: antisecretory proteins; and homologues, derivatives and/or fragments thereof having antisecretory activity. The pharmaceutical composition includes the antisecretory factors. In a novel approach for treating and/or preventing intraocular hypertension which is characterized by hampered outflow of body fluid resulting in elevated pressure in an eye, the pharmaceutical composition including the antisecretory factors is used to lower the intraocular pressure to an acceptable level, optionally 21 mmHg or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
