METHOD AND DEVICE FOR STABILIZING THE RUNNING OF A SNAKING TRAILER

The invention relates to a method and a device (10) for stabilizing the running of a snaking trailer which is being pulled by a vehicle. The combination composed of trailer and vehicle is braked by means of a brake device (14) if a control device (12) activates the brake device (14). Here, the braking process is triggered if an amplitude of the oscillation of the trailer exceeds a predetermined value. As a result, the combination is decelerated to a speed at which the amplitude of the oscillation of the trailer falls below a predetermined value. The combination is decelerated more intensely in the case of a snaking trailer and when travelling at a first travelling speed than in the case of a snaking trailer and when travelling at a second travelling speed which is lower than the first travelling speed. Furthermore, the combination is braked upon the exceedance of a lower value of the amplitude when travelling at the first travelling speed than when travelling at the second travelling speed. A renewed onset of oscillation of the trailer is thereby reliably prevented.
