Provided are a multicast protocol message sniffing method, apparatus and switch, the multicast protocol message sensing method comprises: obtaining the multicast working information of a router, the multicast working information comprises the time interval for receiving group-general query messages, the number of group-specific query messages received after a switch forwards a host leave message to the router and a maximum response time set for a multicast group member host; obtaining multicast protocol parameters of the switch according to the multicast working information of the router, the multicast protocol parameters comprise the time interval for sending group-general query messages, robust parameters and a query response time interval; obtaining the port aging time of the switch according to the multicast protocol parameters of the switch; if no multicast protocol message is received on the port within the port aging time, age the port. Also provided are a corresponding apparatus and a switch comprising the apparatus above.
