<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cabinet for housing an electric electronic apparatus having a sliding door type side plate structure which can open or close the space between adjoining cabinets for housing an electric electronic apparatus without being disturbed by a mounted apparatus or the wiring. <P>SOLUTION: On the side surfaces of adjoining cabinets 1, which become the coupling surfaces, movable side plates 2 having a width equal to or wider than one half of the longitudinal width of the cabinet 1 are provided, respectively, and these side plates 2 are supported slidably in the horizontal direction by a side plate support mechanism. A side plate operation unit 10 which slides the side plate 2 from the front side or the back side of the cabinet is provided in the cabinet 1.
