A bumper system comprising a bumper (1, and 2), a support frame (3), a sliding mechanism, and a brake switch (16). When a vehicle is involved in a single-sided, frontal collision, which is a collision having a frontal overlap of less than 50%, under the effect of the impact, a sliding rail (4) of the bumper system slides along with the bumper (1, and 2) towards the side of the vehicle, guiding the object colliding with the vehicle to slide towards the side of the vehicle, thus preventing the object from a frontal collision with the vehicle, and allowing effective protection for the safety of the vehicle occupants.
