<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine, which is capable of reducing discharge of nanoparticles more quickly. <P>SOLUTION: The device executes a particle diameter enlarging control for enlarging the diameter of particulate matter discharged from a diesel engine, immediately after the execution of a regeneration control to combust and remove the collected particulate matter and regenerate an exhaust gas purification filter 20. By this arrangement, the deposition of large diameter particles such as soot on the exhaust gas purification filter 20 is urged, and thereby the exhaust gas purification filter 20 is made to acquire a collecting capability of the nanoparticles at an early point. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
