A heating station 1 for heating a heat-shrinkable tubing upon a length of cable 17, comprises a casing 3 having walls defining a slotted access opening 11 extending there through towards an interior region within the casing thereby defining a cable locator for receiving a length of cable to pass through the casing at the interior region via the slotted access opening. One or more heating elements 19 are within the casing for heating a tubing upon the length of cable, and a heat shield part 2, pivotable by a servo motor 44 (fig 6 not shown) about an axis 20, is moveable between a closed position which obstructs access to the slotted access opening an open position which does not so obstruct access to the slotted access opening. The heating elements may be lamps and be mounted for movement with the heat shield. Reflective surfaces 27, 28, 29 direct radiation into the region of the cable. Control element are mounted to wall 6 of the casing and a foot control 42 operates the arrangement. |
