摘要 PURPOSE: A negative electrode active material for lithium batteries, a manufacturing method thereof and a lithium secondary battery including the same are provided to drastically enhance performance and stability of the battery, thereby improving capacity and cycle properties. CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode active material for lithium batteries comprises a silicon nanoparticle core layer, a porous buffer layer which is formed at the external angle of the silicon nano-particle core layer, and includes the air gap of 1.2&times;10 - (-1) - 4.0&times;10 - (-1) cc/g volume, and a carbonaceous material coating layer formed at the external angle of the porous buffer layer. The porous buffer layer in which the air gap is formed is a metal oxide layer. The metal oxide included in the metal oxide layer is the silicon oxide marked as SiOx (1<=x<=2) or TiO2. The porosity of the porosity buffer layer is 10% or greater and 100% or less.
