FIELD: engines and pumps. ^ SUBSTANCE: measured are instantaneous temperatures of sidewall of every cylinder at the beginning of intake and expansion strikes to calculate pressure difference (öt) from measured magnitudes. In case calculated value exceeds threshold öt failure is indicated and/or ICE is shut down. Note here that said instantaneous temperatures are measured between first and second piston rings 3, 4 with piston 3 at TDC. For temperature measurements one pickup 7 is used.
