IMMUNIZATION AGAINST CHLAMYDIA PNEUMONIAE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide immunization against chlamydial infection especially infection by Chlamydia pneumoniae.

SOLUTION: The published genome of Chlamydia pneumoniae reveals over 1,000 putative encoded proteins but does not itself indicate that the proteins of these might be useful as antigens for immunization and vaccination or for diagnosis. This difficulty is addressed, and a number of C. pneumoniae protein sequences suitable for vaccine production and development and/or for diagnostic purposes are provided.
