<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a capsule for delivering a bifidobacterium into the large intestine, which quickly elutes the bifidobacterium enclosed in the hard capsule in the large intestine without being eluted in the stomach and the small intestine, and inhibits water intrusion into the hard capsule in the stomach and the small intestine to avoid deactivation of the bifidobacterium, while having sufficient mechanical strength without using any animal protein, needing no coating for increasing the mechanical strength, and also can be produced at an advantageous cost with a suppressed coating level; and to provide a method for producing the capsule. <P>SOLUTION: The capsule for delivering the bifidobacterium into the large intestine contains the bifidobacterium in the hard capsule with gelatin or a cellulose derivative as a base material, has a band seal at the joint part of the hard capsule and has a chitosan-containing layer and an enteric base material on the surface of the hard capsule in this order.
