<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at enhancing the combustion efficiency in an internal combustion engine with a variable valve system. <P>SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine includes a first intake valve driven by a first intake cam, and with a second intake valve driven by a second intake cam, together with a cam phase varying mechanism that varies the phases of the second cam. The first intake cam has a plurality of cam noses which include for configuration at least a second cam nose that opens the first intake valve in the intake process and a first cam nose that opens the first intake valve in the intake process before the second cam nose, while, during the period between the opening duration by the first cam nose and the opening duration by the second cam nose, a closing duration is provided when the first intake valve and the second intake valve in the midst of the intake process are closed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
