<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide retardation films comprising RMs or LCs which have a low optical retardation which do not have drawbacks of prior art techniques, in particular without the necessity of many separate process steps or of an elevated temperature step, at relatively low manufacturing cost, and also to provide advantageous methods and materials for preparation of such films. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to a polymerized liquid crystal (LC) film which contains a photosensitive compound and has a low optical retardation.
