<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition which is capable of providing images that have excellent light resistance, ozone gas resistance, and moisture resistance, is capable of offering sufficiently satisfactory prevention of clogging in an ink supply path and storage stability, and is useful for a yellow inkjet recording ink; and to provide an azo compound. <P>SOLUTION: The coloring composition includes at least two colorants, i.e., a first colorant and a second colorant. The first colorant is a compound represented by general formula (Y), and the second colorant is, for example, a compound 8 described below. The amount (mass%) of the second colorant contained in the composition based on the amount (mass%) of the first colorant contained in the composition is 0.001 or more and 1.0 or less in terms of mass ratio.
