The invention relates to an optically variable surface pattern which is divided into at least one first sub-area (8) having several first pixel sections (4) and a second sub-area (9) having a plurality of second pixel sections (5). Both sub-areas (8, 9) reproduce, in a manner dependent on the viewing angle, two different view points of the same pattern such that an impression of a three-dimensional image emerges for the observer, and a screened halftone representation of the corresponding view is produced by means of the pixel sections (4, 5) of both sub-areas (8, 9).
