<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber which is excellent in fire resistance and biosolubility. <P>SOLUTION: The inorganic fiber has the following composition: 71-80 wt.% of SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, 18-27 wt.% of CaO, 0-3 wt.% of MgO, and 1.1-3.4 wt.% of Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, wherein the amount of each of ZrO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and R<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>(R is selected from Sc, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Y or mixtures thereof) is ≤0.1 wt.%, the amount of each alkali metal oxide is ≤0.2 wt.%, and the total amount of SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, CaO, MgO and Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>is ≥99 wt.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
