The present invention relates to providing a safe, reliable bicycle brake signal that generates its own power in response to brake actuation, in order to provide an alternative to hand signals or no signals at all for the bicycling public. This is done by producing the energy for a noticeable warning light using a friction-driven dynamo(s) at a time when the bicycle rider won't notice the additional drag on forward momentum caused by such devices. This will create a safer experience for group riders of bicycles and bicycle commuters.
