Acquisition of complementary content relative to main content being played back by a device connected to a network

The method involves enabling a user equipment to offer additional content providers accessed through a network to users during restoring main video content. The equipment is allowed to automatically trigger execution of searching of information at the selected content providers, where the search is based on descriptive data relative to the main video content and extracted from a set of descriptive data relative to the main video content. The equipment is allowed to restore complementary web page content based on the search result performed at the selected content providers. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for acquiring complementary content (2) an user equipment for restoring main video content and acquiring complementary web page content (3) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for acquiring complementary content.
