PURPOSE: An additive for antifouling paint and antifouling paint containing the additive are provided to reduce fuel consumed by ships and attachment of sea creatures and to extend attachment period of paint to ship bottom or fishing nets. CONSTITUTION: An additive for antifouling paint and antifouling paint containing the additive comprises a mixture including phosphate mineral powder which is a lanthane-based material which emits anions all the time and silicate mineral powder which emits plain infrared ray of teraHertz waves. Each average particle diameter of the silicate pulverized body emitting the plain infrared ray and the phosphate minerals pulverized body emitting the negative ion is 2-10 microns. The content of the phosphate minerals pulverized body is 40-50 weight% and the content of the silicate pulverized body is 60-40 weight%.
