Pipes are formed with external inclined annular portions 11, and a ring 7 in one or more parts and having a groove 10 at the apex of internal inclined faces 8 complementary to the portions 11 has means, such as screws 9, whereby the ring is contracted to force the portions 11 into contact. The pipes may be in the form of segments to construct a bend or an elbow as shown. In a modification, a ring is contracted onto the inclined portion 11 of a pipe which is then secured to a flat surface by means of the ring, the pipe being provided with a slotted socket in which a pipe having a plain end is held by a nip screw.</p> |
