PURPOSE: A character input method to allocate various characters to one character input key on a touch screen and to input the corresponding character if a user draws a line through the character input key to up/down/left/right, up/left, down/left, up/right, and down/right directions is provided to reduce the number of necessary character input keys for inputting a character in all languages to input characters in all languages through a unique keyboard. CONSTITUTION: A user does not input a character when a user touches a character input key on a touch screen. If the user draws a line through the character input key to up/down/left/right, up/left, down/left, up/right, and down/right directions, the character allocated to the character input keys are inputted. A Japanese is inputted by drawing a line to various directions of the touch screen having the restricted character input key.
