<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module in which contact area between a heat radiation block and upper and lower covers is sufficiently secured, the heat radiation block is thermally coupled to the upper and lower covers by simple and inexpensive configuration, and which effectively radiates heat. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module 10 is constituted by covering an optical subassembly 21 having a ceramic package (package part) 22 on which a luminous element is mounted, and a circuit board 15 on which a group of electronic components for transferring an electric signal are loaded with an upper cover 11 and a lower cover 12. A holding member 27 which depresses and holds a heat radiation block 26, and an FPC 25 which electrically connects a terminal of the package part 22 with the circuit board 15 are provided at a heat radiation surface part 28 on the rear surface of the package part 22, which orthogonally crosses a heat radiation contact surface of the upper cover 11, the FPC 25 is arranged by being bent in the U-shape so as to surround the heat radiation block 26, the upper surface of the heat radiation block 26 is thermally coupled to the heat radiation contact surface of the upper cover 11, and the lower surface of the heat radiation block 26 is thermally coupled to the heat radiation contact surface of the lower cover 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
