Embodiments of the present invention provide an identifier update processing method, a home NodeB, a gateway and an access network system. The identifier update processing method comprises: receiving a first CSG update request message sent by a home NodeB, the first CSG update request message containing a new CSG identifier of the home NodeB; and sending to a core network device a second CSG update request message, the second CSG update request message containing an old CSG identifier and the new CSG identifier of the home NodeB, so that the core network device updates, according to the old CSG identifier and the new CSG identifier, subscription information of a user and CSG identifier information stored in a UE. In the embodiments of the present invention, the UE can acquire a modified CSG ID of a CSG cell in time and thus can figure out whether the UE has the authority to access the CSG cell with the modified CSG ID, thereby preventing the phenomenon that the UE cannot access a CSG cell that it originally has the authority to access after an HMS modifies the CSG ID.
