PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease propagation of a time-varying magnetic field to a magnet coil of a superconducting magnet system and an extremely cryogenically cooled structure used for MRI imaging.
SOLUTION: In the superconducting electromagnet system, extremely cryogenically cooled magnet coils (10) arranged to provide a static magnetic field in an imaging region, a gradient coil assembly (32) to provide oscillating magnetic fields within the imaging region, and an electrically conductive shield (34) positioned between the magnet coils and the gradient coil assembly are provided. The magnet coils are located within an outer vacuum chamber (OVC) (20), and the electrically conductive shield is positioned outside the OVC between a surface of the OVC and the gradient coil assembly. The conductive shield is supported on resilient damping mounts (36) between the conductive shield and the gradient coil assembly (32) and between the conductive shield and the bore tube (20) of the OVC.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
