<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating device for an internal combustion engine for preventing the abnormal wear of each part of the internal combustion engine while reducing friction at starting. <P>SOLUTION: The lubricating device for the internal combustion engine includes a main oil pump 32 to be driven by the torque of a crankshaft 22 to forcibly deliver oil to each part of the internal combustion engine 10 to be lubricated, a sub oil pump 40 to be driven by the torque of the crankshaft 22 to forcibly deliver the oil, and having a smaller capacity than the main oil pump 32, and a clutch mechanism 50 for selecting a connecting condition of connecting the crankshaft 22 to the main oil pump 32 between a disconnecting condition of disconnecting the crankshaft 22 from the main oil pump 32.
