摘要 The invention relates to insertion procedures, particularly high-precision insertion procedures, for contacting a target area of an object by an insertion tool along a path of entry, and more particularly to methods for planning, training or performing such insertion procedures, as well as to systems, computer programs and computer program products configured for use in such insertion procedures. A user is immersed in an augmented reality environment comprising displayed therein the object of the insertion procedure or its physical or virtual surrogate and superimposed thereon a virtual rendition of the path of entry or part thereof. Together with this visual guidance the invention also encompasses haptic guidance which controls any unwanted deviations from the path of entry.
