<p>Even in a high-definition and large-screen plasma display panel, the increase of power consumption is suppressed and a stable discharge is generated. The plasma display panel comprises a plurality of discharge cells each having a display electrode pair consisting of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode and a data electrode. A plasma display panel driving method is a method for driving the plasma display panel in which one field consists of a plurality of sub-fields each having an initialization period during which a falling ramp waveform voltage dropping to a predetermined negative voltage is applied to the scan electrode, a write period, and a sustain period. In the plasma display panel driving method, during the initialization period, the scan electrode is brought into a high impedance state before the falling ramp waveform voltage is applied to the scan electrode and a voltage waveform changing from a high voltage level to a low voltage level is applied to the sustain electrode, thereby lowering the voltage level of the scan electrode and setting the voltage level after being lowered as the start voltage of the falling ramp waveform voltage.</p> |
