<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of suppressing discomfort due to coloration around display patterns. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 1 according to the present invention comprises: an illuminating device 2 emitting a plurality of color light beams having different colors from one another; a plurality of liquid crystal light valves 3R, 3G and 3B modulating each of the plurality of color light beams; a color synthesizing element 4 synthesizing the color light beams modulated by the plurality of liquid crystal light valves 3R, 3G and 3B; and a projection optical system 5 projecting the light beams synthesized by the color synthesizing element 4 on a surface to be projected. The thickness of a cell of one liquid crystal light valve, which modulates one color light beam, of the plurality of liquid crystal light valves 3R, 3G and 3B is less than that of other cell of other liquid crystal light valve, which modulates other color light beam, thereof. Further, an orientation state of a liquid crystal of the one liquid crystal light valve substantially coincides with that of the liquid crystal of the other liquid crystal light valve, when applying the maximum gradation voltage thereto. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
