<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel support apparatus that agrees more to the request of a driver and can prevent overconfidence of the driver to a system of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A travel support apparatus 10 includes: a sonar 12 that detects an obstacle Oa behind a vehicle 11; and a PCS ECU 20 that controls travel of the vehicle 11 to prevent contact with the obstacle Oa when reversing. The PCS ECU 20 performs restriction of speed, deceleration control or stop control of the vehicle 11 without depending on the operation of the driver in order to prevent contact with the obstacle Oa when reversing, and reduces afterwards, the operation amount of the deceleration control etc. Therefore, the driver can cope with the situation to accelerate the vehicle 11 by the reason such as wanting to approach further the obstacle Oa, after the vehicle 11 is decelerated to the obstacle Oa, and the vehicle 11 is always decelerated to the obstacle Oa, and the driver can be prevented from overconfident in the system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
