The refrigerator (10) has a cabinet (12) provided with a cooling chamber (14) whose vertical access opening (16) closed by the transparent door elements (20-1,20-2). Each door element is pivotally mounted on a sliding frame (24-1,24-2) about a vertical axis. The sliding frame is slidably mounted in the transverse direction at a guide rail (22) of the cabinet. A locking arrangement is provided for fixing the door element to the sliding frame. The door element is movable laterally together with the slide frame relative to the running rail or the cabinet.
