PURPOSE: A microwave oven using a heating element generating infrared rays is provided to effectively control a cooking time by rapidly increasing the temperature of the oven. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven using a heating element generating infrared rays comprises an oven body(10), a power supply unit, a heating element(30) generating infrared rays, a reflection plate(40), an insulating member(50), a protective cover(60) for the heating element, a cooking chamber door, a circular support plate(80), a driving motor(90), a cooling fan, a switch element unit, a controller, an input unit(130), and an output unit(140). The controller controls the heating element generating infrared rays, the driving motor, and the cooling fan by respectively controlling the on/off operation of the switch element unit according to a cooking time. The input unit inputs a control signal into the controller using a cooking button. The output unit displays an operation state according to the control signal.
